Messy Mare Studios specializes primarily in painting model horses. These models often start as original finish factory model horses or unfinished resin models. The models are primed and hand painted in various materials. The models often have their main base coat painted with airbrushed high flow acrylics. For an added sheen, some models will often have PearlEx applied. Details are then added with additional acrylics, pigments, and colored pencils. Finally, most models have various details such as eyes, ears, lips/mouth, nostrils, and hooves glossed for added realism.
